HoverBoard is a native macOS menu bar app that gives presenters five live tools — Draw, Freeze & Explain, Whiteboard, Break Timer, and Cursor Highlight — all triggered by global hotkeys. Works over Zoom, Meet, and Teams without breaking your flow. No account, no cloud. Your data stays on your Mac.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Hung, maker of HoverBoard.
The problem: Every time I demoed something on a live call, I'd alt-tab to a drawing app, share the wrong window, or lose my audience while fumbling with tools. Zoom's built-in annotate is clunky. Screen recording software adds overhead. I just wanted to press a key and draw on whatever's on screen.
So I built HoverBoard — a lightweight macOS menu bar app with five presentation tools, each one hotkey away:
✏️ Draw — annotate live over any app (pen, arrows, shapes, auto-fade) ❄️ Freeze & Explain — snapshot the screen, then draw on the frozen image so content doesn't change underneath you 🎨 Whiteboard — infinite private canvas with shapes, text, diagrams. Export PNG/SVG/Excalidraw. No signup. ⏱️ Break Timer — countdown overlay for workshops and long sessions 🎯 Cursor Highlight — animated halo so viewers can actually follow your cursor
What makes it different:
Native macOS app — fast, lightweight, lives in your menu bar
Global hotkeys work over Zoom, Meet, Teams, OBS, anything
100% local — no account, no cloud, no data leaves your Mac
Try every feature free for 30 seconds before buying
Built for developers doing code demos, teachers running online classes, PMs walking through products, and anyone who presents on a Mac.
Would love your feedback — especially on which tool you'd use most and what's missing. Happy to answer any questions! 🙏
As someone who demos in screen share all the time, this looks really useful. One thing that would seal the deal for me is letting the on-screen annotations fade out automatically after a few seconds, so I do not have to remember to clear them before moving on. Could probably be a simple toggle in settings.
The cursor highlight alone is worth it, and being able to freeze a slide mid-zoom to point something out feels genuinely useful instead of gimmicky.
The freeze-and-explain hotkey for Zoom/Meet feels like the kind of thing you only build after using bad alternatives for years. Love that it lives in the menu bar without ever asking for an account.
