hi.new let's you secure your email address by adding a layer through which people can easily communicate with you to prevent annoying spam emails. Instead of saying “email me at mailto:[email protected]”. You can just say “email me here: https://hi.new/yyy”
I'm Dante, maker of Hey.new
For a long time, I've always been annoyed at the spam emails I keep getting; it can get really ridiculous. "How How, Why, why, Omg, WT..., 🤦🏽". That's usually my expression with spam emails.
Have you ever wondered why some emails end up in your spam folder when they should be in your inbox, while others make it to your inbox but should be in spam? I've felt there should be a solution that bridges this gap, providing a more efficient way to manage your emails.
It's not about getting another email address for me personally because it will circle back to the same issues.
It's a missing layer on top of your email address.
So, over the weekend, we built a simple attempt to address this problem and help you prevent spam while still staying reachable. With over 500 users on the first day alone this has become one of my favorite tools to us.
Great idea, so you just send a link to your "Hey.new" account to other people instead of the "oldschool way" of sending the email address and "hey.new" is working as a chatting tool, did I understand it correctly? If so, it would be a great way to get some structure into the daily business and organisation with those hundreds of emails every day...good luck with the launch btw!!! 😊
Congrats on the launch @dantelex and great to see the traction you are getting! I created my account, simple jim was still available too :) Bit lost what to do from there, maybe create on onboarding (e.g. go here to modify your Linkedin, etc.). Looking forward to using it more. Jim
Maybe implement a feature to verify the sender's email address? Without such a verification, it could be easy for someone to impersonate others and send deceptive messages.
Moreover, the current design might not effectively prevent common issues like Nigerian spam or more advanced BEC emails, which could pose a significant security risk
hey.new provides a convenient solution to safeguard your email from spam, offering a hassle-free way for people to contact you while maintaining security. By simplifying communication links with personalized URLs, it enhances privacy and efficiency in managing emails.
fabulous congrats!!! i really hate such torn of unwanted emails, will check it out.
This innovative approach to email security is a game-changer for those looking to protect their inbox from unwanted messages. Kudos to Hey.New for providing a valuable tool in the fight against spam!
I like the simplicity of the interface - beautifully done. :) My question is - what about the use cases that sit in between a big email list and a personal email? So if I wanted to email all my investors, for example, would it be a lot more annoying to have a different workflow to email you due to the friction put in place?
First of all, the behavior of converting emails into link addresses is really cool. I hope to customize my email links to make them look like they represent me. Secondly, protecting personal privacy is very important. Many junk emails make me very annoyed. I hope to be compatible with various account registration processes in the future, and I hope to use my email links on major platforms.
I am confused about how this is any different than using a contact form? Like I can just say “email me here: https://mywebsite/contact” instead of “email me here: https://hey.new/yyy”
