Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm the maker behind HeartTrace. I built it because I kept downloading mood-tracking apps and abandoning them after two days — too many onboarding screens, too many questions, too much guilt when I missed a streak. HeartTrace is my attempt to make mood tracking so lightweight that it becomes a reflex, not a task. It’s a PWA that lives in your notifications: • One-tap logging — tap a mood button right from the push notification, no need to open the app. • Scheduled nudges — pick the times that make sense for you, and the app gently checks in. • No passwords — sign in with an email code and your history stays safe across refreshes and devices. • Weekly trends — a simple 7-day chart plus a tiny insight about what’s driving your moods. • Installable PWA — add it to your home screen for the most reliable notifications. One important heads-up for iPhone users: Apple currently doesn't support action buttons on web push notifications, so on iOS tapping the notification opens the app to log your mood. Android and desktop browsers support the true one-tap logging from the notification itself — that's the version shown in the screenshots. This is still the MVP. If it resonates, the next step is smarter: warning you when your data shows a concerning pattern and helping you understand what’s affecting your emotional state. **PH-exclusive perk:** Drop a comment below or DM me and I’ll add you to the early-access list for the upcoming mood alerts & insights beta. One real question: what would actually make you stick with HeartTrace — better insights, fewer notifications, or something else entirely? Thanks for checking it out 💗

Comment highlights

HeartTrace started from a simple observation: the moment you actually feel something is exactly when you will not open a mood app. Check-ins happen in elevators, between meetings, at 2 a.m. — tiny windows that close in seconds. So instead of asking people to come to the tracker, we moved the tracker to where they already are: the notification bar.

Most mood tools are built around sessions — open the app, answer screens, keep a streak, then feel guilty when you miss a day. HeartTrace inverts that. There is no dashboard to fill. An installable PWA sends a gentle nudge at times you choose; on Android, Windows and macOS you answer right on the notification with one tap; on iOS, tapping the notification opens the app instead. Your history lives on your account with password-free email sign-in, safe across refreshes and devices.

Along the way you get a clean weekly trend and a small insight. What we are building next is the part we care about most: reading those patterns with you and quietly flagging when your data suggests a rough patch — early signals before you even notice one.

HeartTrace is an MVP on purpose. The world does not need another full-featured journal; it needs the smallest honest step between feeling something and recording it. Try it, and tell us what breaks and what is missing — [email protected] is read by a human.
