Haptiker turns the edges of your Mac trackpad into sliders. Right edge: volume. Left: display brightness, external monitors too on Apple Silicon. Top: keyboard light. Haptic ticks, and scrolling works as before. 7-day free trial, then one payment.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Perlat, and I made Haptiker.
My hand is on the trackpad most of the day, and I kept leaving it to change the volume or dim the screen. The edges of the trackpad sit there unused, so I turned them into sliders:
→ Right edge: slide up or down for volume. Double-tap to mute.
→ Left edge: display brightness. It changes whichever screen your cursor is on, including external monitors on Apple Silicon Macs (over DDC/CI, no extra tools).
→ Top edge: slide sideways for keyboard light.
You feel a haptic tick as the level moves, and the cursor stays still while you adjust.
Most of the work went into making it not get in the way. A slide only counts when one finger starts on the edge and runs along it. Two-finger scrolls are ignored, and so are swipes that start in the middle of the pad. If your hands are different from mine, you can change the edge width and sensitivity, swap sides, or limit the side edges to the bottom quarter.
The details:
• Menu bar app, macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel
• Built-in Force Touch trackpads and the Magic Trackpad
• It needs Accessibility permission to read trackpad touches. Touches stay in memory on your Mac. There are no analytics in the app; it only goes online for license and update checks.
• 7-day free trial of every feature, no account, no card
• Then a one-time purchase, no subscription. One license covers up to 3 Macs.
For Product Hunt: code PRODUCTHUNT makes it $3.99 instead of $7.99, until October 27. You can start the trial today and use the code when you buy.
What I'd love to hear:
1. Does the edge detection feel right on your trackpad, or does it ever fire when you didn't mean it to?
2. If you use an external monitor, did brightness work with your setup?
3. The bottom edge is still free. What would you put there?
I'll be here all day answering questions.

Small thing, but it solves a real daily annoyance. Reaching for the keys just to change the volume gets old. Does it work with a Magic Trackpad too?
The haptic ticks are a nice detail. Having some physical feedback while changing the volume or brightness should make the control feel more natural.
