Formscape Travel
Built for international travelers exploring China.
Formscape Travel is an English-first China trip planner built for the messy parts most travel apps miss: local map context, Chinese names and driver-ready addresses, curated routes, PDFs, SOS/allergy cards, and practical guidance for payments, transport, maps, and emergencies.
Hi Product Hunt, I’m the maker behind Formscape Travel.
I built this because planning a China trip in English is still surprisingly fragmented. A visitor might find inspiration in one app, local place data in another, Chinese addresses somewhere else, and practical travel guidance in yet another place.
While travling in China, the small details matter: Chinese names for drivers, realistic routes, payment and map prep, allergy/SOS notes, ticket links, and backup PDFs you can carry on the ground.
Formscape Travel brings those pieces into ONE English-first web app for international visitors to China.
What’s inside:
- Curated China attractions/food/experience selected with locals
- Chinese names and addresses for taxis, hotels, and restaurants
- Map-based planning, saved places, and realistic route building
- Curated trips and AI-assisted itinerary customization
- Survival Guide, SOS cards, allergy cards, and trip PDFs
The first version is strongest for Shanghai, with more Chinses cities being added one by one.
I’d love feedback from travelers, expats, China-based makers, and anyone who has planned a China trip before: what would have made your China trip less stressful before arrival or on the ground?
A translate-back toggle for the Chinese names would be huge, especially for showing taxi drivers or store staff a quick screenshot of your destination in characters. Could also help with reading menus or signs when you're out exploring.
How do the PDF and SOS cards actually work in practice, like do they update in real time or is it just static templates I fill in before I go?
The Chinese name and address conversion alone is worth it for anyone who has fumbled through a taxi ride in Shanghai. The SOS card feature is a genuinely smart touch that I haven't seen elsewhere.
