I'm Nahuel, a developer from Argentina. I built Folium because resume builders have a business model I hate: you spend an hour building your resume, and the paywall appears exactly when you hit "Download" — at the precise moment in life when you're most likely unemployed.
So Folium is free, with no account and no paywall. Everything runs in your browser and your resume lives in localStorage — there's no database of resumes on my end. And as of today, it's open source (AGPL): github.com/NahuelGiudizi/folium
The new part is the AI suite (also free, also optional): paste a job posting and you get a match score, the ATS keywords your resume is missing, a tailored copy of your resume, and an editable cover letter that exports as a PDF matching your template.
Two things I'm proud of under the hood:
**The AI can't invent your experience.** After it rewrites, my code restores every factual field (employers, roles, dates, degrees) verbatim from your original, and discards the whole response if anything doesn't line up. It can rephrase and reorder — nothing else.
**Privacy by construction.** Your email, phone and photo are stripped before anything is sent to the AI, it's processed on the fly, and nothing is stored.
It works in English, Spanish and Portuguese. I'd love your feedback — especially on the tailoring quality. Ask me anything!
Heads up: the AI features run on Cloudflare's free tier — about 10,000 neurons a day. If everyone piles on at once, tomorrow's neurons might have to cover today's fun. No pressure to pace yourselves 😄
The match score against job postings is genuinely useful but it would be even better if you added a side-by-side comparison view showing which bullet points from my resume map to which keywords from the job description, so I can quickly decide what to tweak instead of guessing.
The match score against a pasted job posting is surprisingly honest about gaps in my resume, and the ATS-ready PDF actually parsed cleanly through the tools I tested. Free and open source with no account nonsense is a rare combo.
Love the no-account, open source angle and the match score is a smart touch. One thing that would really help: let me save multiple tailored versions per job link so I can come back to a specific application without losing the keywords I dialed in for it.
