Hey everyone, I'm Robin, and I built Flicka. I make a lot of short product demos, and the tools I tried kept getting in the way. One needed a desktop app and a subscription. One was a browser extension that uploaded every recording to its own servers. Another one gave me a great video but I had to open a second app just to draw an arrow on a screenshot. I wanted the whole thing in one place, and I wanted it to run where I already was: a browser tab. So that's what Flicka is. Here's what it does: - You pick a window or tab and press record. Your clicks become smooth zoom blocks automatically, so the recording already looks edited before you touch it. - The cursor gets re-simulated with spring physics. Fast, jittery hand movements read like deliberate camera moves. - There's a real timeline. Trim, cut, add or move zoom blocks, drop a webcam layer that stays editable after the fact. - Backdrops, padding, shadows, and macOS or browser frames, the way the fancy desktop apps do it. - Drag in any screenshot and annotate it. Fifteen tools, device mockups, and redaction bars that actually remove the pixels. - Export to MP4 (through WebCodecs), WebM, or GIF, with presets for YouTube, X, TikTok and Instagram. Rendering happens in the background while you keep editing. The part I care about most: nothing is uploaded. Capture, editing and encoding all happen in the tab, and your projects live in your browser's storage. There is no backend for your recordings to go to. If you record something under NDA, there's nothing to clear with security. Honest limitations, because you'll find them anyway: - Cursor tracking is scoped to the browser, so auto-zoom is best for in-browser demos. Manual zoom blocks work for anything. - MP4 export depends on your browser supporting H.264 through WebCodecs. If it doesn't, you get WebM and the file is named correctly. - Closing the tab mid-render stops the render. It's your machine doing the work. Pricing: the free plan is the whole studio, with 1080p WebM and GIF export, up to five projects, and a small Flicka mark in the corner. Pro is $5 a month, $30 a year, or $80 once for life, and it unlocks MP4 and 4K export, no watermark, the webcam layer, click sounds, cuts, all the device frames, templates, and unlimited projects.
