Fiscado — Elevating Personal Finance into an Aesthetic Daily Ritual Inspiration For the past 10 years, I have been actively using personal finance and budgeting apps. Throughout this decade, I tried and switched between dozens of different tools. While many of them technically solved the problem of tracking expenses and numbers, almost all of them felt like exhausting digital chore tools — complex, unintuitive, and visually cluttered like raw Excel spreadsheets. I realized that tracking money shouldn't feel like doing your taxes. What was missing from the market was craftsmanship: • An interface that sparks genuine joy rather than cognitive fatigue. • Fluid, tactile spring animations that make logging an expense feel rewarding. • Complete visual clarity where personal life, business, and travel don't collide into a single messy feed. I set out to build Fiscado — an iOS finance tracker where utility meets uncompromising aesthetic pleasure. How I Built It Fiscado is built natively for iOS using a modern, reactive architecture: • Frontend & UX: Built with SwiftUI, custom spring kinematics, and tactile haptic feedback. Every gesture, card morph, and segmented switch was engineered to feel organic and responsive. • Architecture: Clean MVVM with dedicated Workspaces (Personal, Business, Travel) to keep distinct cash flows strictly isolated with independent currencies and reporting. • Backend & Security: Powered by Firebase for offline-first, real-time synchronization. • Monetization & Analytics: Integrated with RevenueCat and Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics with zero invasive ad-tracking. Challenges I Faced 1. Fluid Kinematics vs. SwiftUI Performance: Creating complex custom animations (such as the interactive multi-phase swipe cards and spring segmented controls) while maintaining instantaneous rendering required fine-tuning gesture velocity curves and optimizing drawing layers. 2. True Workspace Isolation: Architecting a multi-currency, multi-account ledger that supports seamless workspace switching without polluting global state or complicating user workflows. 3. The Balance Between Depth & Simplicity: Providing advanced accounting tools (debts, transfers, custom categories, analytics trends) while keeping the visual surface completely clean and clutter-free. What I Learned Building Fiscado reinforced a fundamental truth: design is not just how it looks, but how it feels. When you turn an everyday necessity into an aesthetically delightful experience, discipline becomes effortless. What's Next Fiscado is gearing up for its official App Store release. Upcoming milestones include a host of exciting new features and continuous refinements.
