Hey Product Hunt! I built Europe Time Machine because I kept wanting to see how a country's borders looked at a given point in history and couldn't find a tool that let me just drag a slider and watch it happen.
It covers antiquity through today, with modern disputed territories (Crimea, Transnistria, Kosovo) shown as a separate layer so historical and present-day nuance don't get mixed up. Historical border data comes from Cliopatria/Seshat, modern/coastline data from Natural Earth.
Built with React + MapLibre GL on the frontend and a Spring Boot backend. Would love feedback on which years or regions feel off — the historical data has some gaps.
