I'm William, and ember is my first launch here.
For the past 10 years I've used just about every dating app out there. And honestly? I'd close each one feeling worse than when I opened it. It's not a matches problem, I get matches. It's that these apps are wired to reward the wrong things. Looks over substance. Swipes over conversations. Games over people.
I started digging through forums and realized I wasn't alone. Thousands of people feel the same quiet exhaustion but keep using these apps because there's no real alternative.
So I built one.
ember is matchmaking in a "Love is Blind" format. No swiping, no public profiles, no performing for a feed.
Here's how it works:
Interactive onboarding. ember walks you through a smooth conversation that draws out who you actually are and who you're actually looking for. Everything you say to ember is never shared nor shown to anyone else. This is to promote a more authentic representation of who you actually are.
Automatic matchmaking. Your persona gets compared against every other approved user, and ember pairs you with the people who genuinely fit. No time is spent swiping on others, this means that you only spend time on the app actually connecting with your matches.
Personality first. You connect through conversation before you ever see a photo. Once you've actually matched with someone, then you can share pictures.
Ghost Prevention System. Limited time to reply or the match passes. Three ghosts and you're out. ember isn't the app for people who are just there to play.
Safety is baked in from the ground up. Photo scanning, real-time message moderation for harassment and grooming patterns, and behavioural flagging for bad actors. It all runs quietly in the background so you don't have to think about it.
