I'm Nabil, the founder of DunningKit, and I want to give you the real version of why this exists.
I was running a small B2B SaaS and noticed something in our Stripe dashboard that bothered me: a bunch of "past due" subscriptions from customers who were actively using the product. They hadn't churned by choice. Their card had failed, Stripe sent one generic email, nothing happened, and they quietly disappeared.
I looked into dunning solutions. The good ones wanted a percentage of recovered revenue which felt insane. I'd already paid to acquire these customers. I'd already spent engineering time building product they loved. Now I was going to pay a tax on getting my own money back? The cheaper alternatives were essentially "set a retry schedule and send a template email." Better than nothing, but barely.
So I built the thing I wanted to exist.
The part I'm most proud of is the AI email layer. I spent a lot of time on the prompts that feed Gemini the customer context subscription name, billing amount, failure reason, retry number, your brand name and tone. The emails it generates are genuinely different from the standard "Your payment failed, please update your card" message. They're warmer. They acknowledge the situation without being accusatory. They give the customer a clear, low-friction path to fix it. That's what actually moves recovery rates.
Things I'd love your feedback on:
The pricing structure: Does flat-rate-per-seat make sense for agencies managing multiple Stripe accounts? I went back and forth on this vs. per-recovered-dollar.
The campaign builder: Right now you configure retry schedules and email sequences per campaign. Are there edge cases I'm missing that you'd expect to handle out of the box?
Anything that breaks: Seriously. If you connect your Stripe account and something feels off, I want to know. DMs are open, email is on the site.
