dokkei started from a simple thought: what if every book could have illustrations?
Most novels are purely text, even though the scenes we imagine while reading are incredibly visual. dokkei explores that idea by turning ordinary ebooks into illustrated reading experiences.
With dokkei, you can upload an EPUB, and the system scans the story to identify key moments. It then generates AI illustrations for scenes in the book, allowing you to see parts of the story visually as you read.
The goal isn’t to replace imagination — it’s to enhance the reading experience, like a modern version of illustrated novels.
Some things currently being explored:
• How many scenes should a book illustrate
• What illustration styles readers prefer
• Whether readers want lighter storybook images or more cinematic visuals
