Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm George Mason, founder of Dap. The inspiration: It started with a frustration everyone knows: you meet someone, the conversation is great, and then... you're fumbling. Spelling out your Instagram handle. Typing a number into their phone. Handing over a paper card that's in the trash by Friday. I looked at existing solutions, NFC cards, tags, stickers, and they all had the same flaw: they're one more thing. One more thing to carry, to forget, to lose. But there's one thing nobody leaves behind: their phone. So, I built the sharing right in the case itself. Tap your Dap case to someone's phone and your digital profile appears instantly. No app needed and nothing extra in your pocket. Why "Dap": This mission comes from growing up as a Black man in NYC. Dapping up your friends was more than a greeting, it was a language of trust, brotherhood, and mutual respect. That cultural cornerstone is the exact blueprint for this company. Here's what I believe: every person carries a unique superpower. But we too frequently build in silos. Real, lasting change in our community happens when we stop building alone and start sharing resources. I architected Dap to facilitate that exact exchange, a networking tool designed to turn individual connections into a powerful, interconnected community. The bigger mission: 20% of all revenue goes directly to funding Black independent primary schools to help dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline. I attended one of these schools, and I credit my success to the foundation those teachers gave me. Our goal: raise $1 million for this innovative. If that mission resonates with you, I'd genuinely love your input as we scale. 👉 What would make you replace your business card with your phone case? And if you know a school or org we should be talking to, tell me. I'll be here all day answering questions. Thanks for checking out Dap! 🤝

Comment highlights

finally a card built into something i already carry. tapped a coworkers phone and it just worked, no app download on her end which was the part that sold me.

Finally, a digital business card that doesn't feel like one more thing to remember. The tap-to-share works exactly as promised and the case itself looks sharp on my iPhone.

the NFC chip baked into the case itself is such a smart move, no extra gadget to lose or charge. love that it works on the receiving end without forcing someone to download an app just to grab your info.

Finally a business card I can't forget at home. The tap-to-share worked smoothly at a coffee meetup and the other person didn't need to download anything, which was the part that really sold me.

Finally a card that lives where my phone already is. Tapped a coworker's Android and my details just popped up, no app or signup on their end, which honestly surprised me.

Who hunted Dap?

Dap was hunted by George Mason. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
