The moment the new owner powers it on, it tries to re-enroll into someone else's Intune tenant — an unusable "clean" laptop and a frustrated customer.
Autopilot Detection checks a device's Autopilot enrollment status before you erase it, flags it automatically, and lets you deregister it right there — through the GUI or the REST API — so nothing slips through to resale.
