Couchette turns focus sessions into overnight train journeys across Europe. Board a route, work while the cabin rolls through the night, and collect a passport stamp when you arrive. Deep work with somewhere to go. Blocks distracting apps and lets you focus on what is truly important

Hello 👋 I build Couchette to help with my focus. I wanted something more niche, something that feels like an experience, but also blocks distracting apps in order to stop myself from doomscrolling. So I made the timer a place instead of a number. You board a European sleeper train, London to Paris for example and your focus session is the journey. The cabin rolls through the night while you work, and when the timer ends, you arrive: a new stamp in your passport, a route completed. Over time you're not staring at a streak counter, you're collecting a map of nights well spent. It is my first ios app. I built it with aesthetics in mind, wanting to romanticize the overnight train ride. This isn't a productivity dashboard. It's a small, calm ritual for getting into deep work. I would love you feedback since this is my first product and frist launch. What makes a focus tool actually stick for you, and whether the train framing lands or feels like a gimmick. Happy to answer anything here

Comment highlights

Most focus apps try to make people feel productive. I like that you're creating a destination instead—a journey people want to finish.

I'm curious, when did the overnight train metaphor stop being a theme and start becoming the core product?

Tried it on a long writing session and the train metaphor actually made the timer feel less like a chore. Nice touch that it actually blocks apps too, not just pings.

How does the app actually decide when the focus session "arrives" so you get the stamp? Is the duration fixed or can you pick the length of the overnight route?

Curious how the train imagery actually changes during a session, is there a set list of routes you cycle through or does it pull real-time maps of the journey?
