I'm Bally, solo dev, and I built Clear Food because I got tired of the same loop: bad skin → buy another serum → nothing changes.
Nobody ever told me the problem might be what I ate three days ago. Every food app I tried was built for gym guys counting macros — none of them answered "is this breaking me out?"
So I built the one I wanted. Point your camera at anything, get a score in ~3 seconds, plus separate scores for your actual goals (clear skin, bloating, puffy face, weight). No barcode scanning, no database that doesn't have your local snack, no 12-field logging ritual.
The hard part wasn't the AI — it was speed. The first version took 8 seconds and felt broken. Splitting the analysis into two stages (score first, explanation while the animation plays) is what made it feel instant. That one change did more for retention than any feature I shipped.
Built solo with Expo. Happy to answer anything — especially if you think the whole food thesis is wrong. I would really like to hear it.
