I built Citation Generator after seeing how much time students and researchers spend switching between citation guides, cleaning up references, and checking punctuation across different styles.
The goal was to create one focused tool that accepts almost any starting point—a DOI, URL, ISBN, partial source details, or even a research topic—and turns it into a structured reference list in APA, Harvard, MLA, Chicago, IEEE, or Vancouver style.
While building it, I realized that formatting alone isn’t enough. Citation metadata can be incomplete or uncertain, so the product evolved to include clear verification markers, a checklist of details to confirm, and suggested scholarly search terms. It helps you work faster without pretending that unverified information is guaranteed to be correct.

The verification checklist alongside each citation is a really thoughtful touch, especially for anyone who's ever lost points over a misplaced comma in APA. Smart move bundling search terms too, saves a trip back to the database.
Would love to see a browser extension so I can highlight a source on a webpage and generate the citation without copying the URL over. Would save a lot of time when I'm deep in research mode.
