Two launches ago I put Crew here (little pixel monsters for your Claude Code
agents, #7 of the day, thank you), then Notchling. Chit is the third, and it is
the one I actually built for myself first.
The problem: you run Claude Code all day, you genuinely get a lot done, and by
6pm you cannot remember any of it. Standup tomorrow. Timesheet on Friday.
Chit reads the transcripts Claude Code already writes to ~/.claude/projects and
prints the day back as a receipt, grouped by project. One click copies it as
plain bullets, already phrased the way a task sheet wants them.
▪ It prints what you did, not what you typed. Claude Code names most sessions
itself; where it has not, Chit names the line after the files you touched.
Your prompts never appear anywhere.
▪ Grouped by project, busiest first. Agent worktrees fold back into their parent
instead of showing up as strangers.
▪ Copy the whole day, or one project. Plain text, or Markdown for the places
that render it.
▪ It is also a CLI: chit --today, --date=, --from= --to=, --markdown. Pipe it
into whatever eats your timesheets.
▪ Menu bar only, no Dock icon. ⌥⌃⌘C shows and hides it.
On privacy, which I want to be concrete about rather than reassuring:
▪ There is no network code in the binary. Not a policy, a property:

▪ No account, no API key, no telemetry.
▪ Lines show file names, never paths. A path says who you are and who you work
for; audit.js does not.
▪ You can hide whole projects. Honest limit: that hides that project's lines, it
cannot hide a sentence you typed about that work inside a different project.
I am not selling it as if it could.

▪ macOS 13+, Apple Silicon and Intel, 777 KB.
▪ Not notarised yet, so a browser download gets flagged once. The curl line on
the site installs with no warning and the SHA-256 is published next to it.
▪ Today's receipt is free and stays free, and it is the half I use every
morning. $12 once adds past days, the week and month statements, and the
dashboard. The free tier is not a demo.
▪ An earlier version of this needed Hammerspoon and Python 3. That is gone.
