CARE Project is a volunteer-run dog rescue in Cyprus. We rescue strays, provide vet care, rehabilitate, socialize, and coordinate adoptions to Cyprus, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. We're open-sourcing the entire platform. Built with Next.js 16, Tailwind CSS v4, and deployed on Vercel. Adding a dog to the site means adding a markdown file - no CMS, no database.
Hey everyone - I'm the developer behind CARE Project, and this is a personal one for me.
I moved to Cyprus and saw firsthand how bad the stray dog situation is. Thousands of dogs on the streets. Shelters are underfunded. Many rescue organizations operate through Facebook groups and WhatsApp messages.
CARE started as a small volunteer effort under the UANA Foundation (registered nonprofit, HE 442538) to try to do something about it. We rescue dogs, pay for their vet care, rehabilitate them, socialize them, and coordinate adoptions - not just in Cyprus, but to the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Dozens of dogs have found permanent homes through this program, and many more are waiting right now.
On the tech side, the site runs Next.js 16 with VaneUI (a React component library I also built), Markdoc for content, Tailwind CSS v4, and Vercel for hosting. Adding a new dog to the site means adding a markdown file and committing it. No CMS login, no admin panel, no database.
Launching on Vercel Day felt right - a real example of what you can build on Vercel when the stakes aren't metrics or revenue, but lives.

CARE Project was hunted by Evgeniy Kosjakov. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
