Most book recommenders match by genre. BookTwin matches by feel — mood, pacing, themes, and emotional payoff. Tell it books you loved (or skip typing and just tap a mood) and it finds reads that hit the same emotional notes, not just the same shelf category. No account, no quiz fatigue — just type, tap, read.

Top comment

Hi everyone! I made BookTwin because every book recommender I tried sorted by genre, and genre never captured what actually made me love a book — the pacing, the mood, that gut-punch ending. So instead I built something that matches on feel: tell it books you loved (or just tap a mood if nothing comes to mind) and it finds reads with the same emotional payoff, not just the same category tag. Still early and I'm actively tuning the matching logic based on feedback. Curious — when you ask a friend for a book rec, what do you actually tell them you're in the mood for?

Comment highlights

The mood-tap idea is genuinely clever. One thing that would help a lot: let me save a short list of books I loved so I can return later and see fresh recommendations without retyping. Maybe even a small toggle to weight recent reads more heavily so the suggestions evolve instead of recycling the same titles.

Being able to save a "twin list" of those perfect vibe matches would be amazing, especially with a way to share one with a friend who has the same reading mood.

the mood-first approach is honestly so smart, like tapping a vibe instead of filling out another boring quiz actually feels like how real readers pick books. no account wall is a nice touch too
