For years, I managed rotating shifts, off-duty jobs, court appearances, leave, and business mileage using a mix of generic calendar apps, spreadsheets, and even paper notes. I also tried several police-specific calendars, but they either felt overly complicated or didn’t fit the way I actually worked.
That frustration became the inspiration for BlueShifts.
Instead of trying to force another general-purpose calendar to work, I decided to build one from the ground up for law enforcement, first responders, and anyone who works rotating shifts.
BlueShifts includes:
• Custom rotating shift schedules
• Off-duty job scheduling and earnings tracking
• Business mileage tracking
• Court date scheduling
• Leave and vacation management
• Sunrise and sunset times
• Federal holiday indicators
• Agency directories and useful contacts
• Schedule sharing with a spouse or significant other
Privacy was a core design goal from day one. Your schedule and personal information stay on your device—BlueShifts doesn’t store your calendar or personal data on remote servers.
As a thank-you to everyone willing to try a brand-new app and help shape its future, early adopters receive lifetime premium access at no cost.
I’m excited to finally share BlueShifts and would love to hear what features you’d like to see next and how it can become an even better tool for shift workers.
The mileage tracking alongside shift pay is a really thoughtful touch, shows the team actually understands the day-to-day grind for off-duty officers.
One thing I'd love to see is automatic mileage tracking through GPS rather than entering it manually. When I leave one job and head to another, having the app log the route and distance in the background would save a ton of time and make sure nothing gets missed for reimbursement.
Honestly the mileage tracking alone is worth it, I've been using a notepad for years and kind of forgot how nice it is to just log it automatically. The sharing feature is solid too.
Finally, an app that actually understands the chaos of off-duty work — having mileage tracking built right into the same place as job details is a small thing but it shows the team really thought through the day-to-day workflow.
honestly this looks really useful for keeping all the off-duty chaos in one place. one thing i'd love to see is a mileage export feature that spits out clean reports for reimbursement, basically something i can just hand to the department without having to manually fix the numbers. would save a ton of time at the end of the month.
Love that it tracks mileage and pay alongside the schedule itself, cuts out so much spreadsheet juggling for off-duty cops. Clean concept.
Finally tried this and the mileage tracking alone is worth it for anyone juggling off-duty gigs. Setup was painless and it already saved me from double booking a shift.
finally an app that actually gets the off-duty grind, the mileage tracking alone would have saved me hours of spreadsheet headaches last month
