Bleepster mutes swear words in YouTube videos while the video keeps playing. It reads YouTube's own captions, and an AI checks them in context, so it catches slang, disguised spellings and mixed languages that a word list would miss. Only the word goes silent, or you can pick a classic bleep. A 4-digit Parent PIN locks the settings, and the audio never leaves your browser tab. Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Mac. The first 10 videos are free.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm lirik, the maker of Bleepster.
Most tools for cleaner YouTube block whole videos or channels, or mute a full sentence when a word from a list shows up. I wanted something narrower: keep the video and lose only the swear word.
Bleepster takes YouTube's caption track with word-level timing. An AI reads the transcript in context, which is how it catches slang, transliteration and disguised spellings. The mute is then scheduled on the audio clock, so the silence (or the bleep, if you prefer) covers the word and not the sentence around it.
A few details I spent time on:
You don't need an API key. The AI is included: sign in with email and open a video.
A 4-digit Parent PIN locks the on/off switch and every setting.
If a video has no captions, the toolbar icon turns orange, so you know it isn't filtered.
The popup shows how many words were muted in this video and on this device.
Rewatching an analyzed video is free because the results are cached locally.
Bleepster runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Mac. Free covers 10 videos. Premium is $4.99 a month, or $19.99 once for lifetime, for one household on up to 3 devices.
I'd like to hear from parents, teachers and anyone who watches YouTube in a language other than English. Tell me where it misses.

Who hunted Bleepster?
Bleepster was hunted by Kirill Isachenko. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post.
