I built Billr because I kept losing money in the gap between doing the work and getting paid for it. Hours guessed at from memory on a Sunday evening, invoices assembled by hand, and every year a couple of jobs I simply forgot to bill.
So Billr starts at the timer, not at the invoice. You tap once to start and once to stop. The hours land on the right client and project by themselves, and when you are ready you turn them into a branded invoice without retyping a line. Your client pays by card or PayPal straight from the invoice.
The thing that changed most while building it: offline stopped being a nice-to-have and became the architecture. My first version cached a bit and hoped. That is useless in a basement, on a train, or at a client site with no bars, which is exactly where the work happens. So I rebuilt it offline-first. The timer keeps running, invoices keep saving, everything syncs across your devices the moment you have signal again.
