I'm Kaushal, maker of BetaDrop. This is our second launch; the first was in May.
BetaDrop came out of a recurring annoyance: getting a build onto a tester's phone is harder than it should be. TestFlight means waiting on review and managing invites. Diawi hits upload caps. Firebase App Distribution is a console plus an SDK to wire up. And Microsoft App Center, which many of us leaned on, shut down in March 2025.
So the core is deliberately simple:
1. Drag in your .ipa or .apk.
2. Get an OTA install link and QR code.
3. Send it to anyone. They install from their phone's browser. No tester accounts, no app store, no setup on their end.
What's new since May, mostly from people asking "is this safe for a build I can't leak?":
• Per-link passwords on every plan, and expiry by time, downloads or unique devices. Expired means deleted from storage.
• Disable or delete a build to revoke every link to it.
• Every upload is scanned with ClamAV before a link is issued.
• Testers can send feedback from the install page; each build has download and device analytics.
• UDID collection: one link registers testers' iPhones for ad-hoc signing and exports a CSV for Apple's portal.
• Channels (Pro): one stable install URL you re-point at each new build, so clients keep one bookmark.
• Ship from where you already work: betadrop publish ./MyApp.ipa from the CLI (@betadrop/cli), a GitHub Action (betadrop-app/upload-action), an MCP server for AI coding agents (@betadrop/mcp), and recipes for fastlane, Codemagic, Bitrise and GitLab CI.
The free tier is perpetual: 500 MB per build, links up to 7 days, and a one-off guest upload needs no account. Pro adds a year of retention, custom short links and channels; Studio adds white-label install pages.
Two honest notes: iOS installs still need the build signed for your testers' devices (ad-hoc or enterprise). That's Apple's rule; we handle distribution, not signing. And Android testers allow installs from the browser once, like any sideload.
