I’ve had the privilege of helping top companies like Atlassian, Stripe, Okta, and Databricks grow their teams. Now, as an Operating Partner at venture capital firm Felicis, I work with founders from the earliest to growth stages to structure their organizations and culture to fit their ambitions.
Benchmarks generally suck. They become dated quickly and are a heavy lift, yet founders are always ask for them. But, every company is unique, and benchmarks are generally not customizable to industry or sales motion.
This is why Felicis is launching a simple tool that founders everywhere can use for free.
Benchmark Your Org is an app based on data from over 15K companies that have raised in the last ten years. Built in collaboration with Findem, the data is updated monthly to stay relevant and valuable.
With this tool, you can choose your stage, sector, sales motion, revenue range, and valuation range to get a bespoke plan showing how you stack up relative to other startups in your industry.
The tool will help answer questions like:
* What should my headcount be at our current stage?
* How should I think about growing the team to get to our next milestone?
* How many engineers should we hire right now?
* How many sales people should an enterprise-focused Series C AI company have?
* What’s a good ratio of managers to individual contributors by specific function?
* What does a healthy attrition rate look like?
I wanted something simple that could fill the hole in the market with the org benchmarks founders want, and be tech-enabled to evolve as fast as the ecosystem does. I didn’t want to create a benchmark process that took a bunch of time or had to be run over and over every single year. We hope this is useful for founders, People teams, and other investors.
