Most screenshot tools I tried felt either too heavy, too outdated, too noisy, or too focused on advanced workflows I didn’t need every day. AuroShot is different because it focuses on a clean everyday screenshot flow: - fast capture modes for screen, window, or selected area; - 10+ useful annotation tools; - automatic copy to clipboard and local saving; - a floating capture panel designed not to steal focus from work or games; - local-first privacy: screenshots stay on the user’s device;

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Viktoria, a product designer from Ukraine. For years I wanted a Windows screenshot tool that was genuinely pleasant to use: fast, automatic, beautiful and not cluttered. I never found it, so I learned to build one. I interviewed friends about how they actually capture and annotate, ran a lot of iterations, and leaned hard on brutally honest beta testers. AuroShot is the result and it's my first product ☺️ A few things I'm proud of: • The floating capture bar doesn't steal focus, so it won't interrupt a game • Every shot is copied to the clipboard AND saved to your folder automatically • 10+ annotation tools and some sparkle ✨ • Full English + Ukrainian It's an open beta and free. I'd love your honest feedback. Ask me anything! Try it → auroshot.com

Genuinely like how minimal this feels, the floating panel not stealing focus is honestly a lifesaver. One thing though, an OCR feature to pull text out of screenshots would be huge, basically just right click and grab the text instead of retyping it from images. Would round it out really nicely.

The floating capture panel is genuinely nice to use, especially not having it steal focus while gaming. Auto-copy to clipboard is the kind of default I wish every screenshot tool just had.

Tried it for a quick capture earlier and the floating panel thing is honestly the best part, didn't lose focus from what I was working on. Auto clipboard copy saves me a step too.

Love how lightweight this feels compared to the bloated tools I've bounced between. One thing that would make it stick for me: a quick "copy as text" option for screenshots, since a lot of my captures are just stuff I need to paste into messages or docs without fussing with OCR separately.

The difference from other screenshot tools is in the UX details:

- doesn’t minimize the active window - doesn’t add a capture animation or sound
- shows quick actions after each screenshot
- makes the save location visible so you don’t have to remember where the file went
- have a universal number of annotation tools;
- hopefully, interesting visually 💜

the floating capture panel is a really thoughtful touch - the fact that it stays out of the way during work or games shows you actually thought about the user’s flow, not just the feature list.
