Describe a futures trading idea the way you'd say it out loud "Buy MNQ when it drops 1% below yesterday's close" and AskFutures runs a real historical backtest in seconds: equity curve, win rate, drawdown, trade-by-trade ledger. No code. Test the trade before you take it.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm the maker of AskFutures. I built it because I kept spending more time *implementing* trading ideas than actually testing them — every "I wonder if this works" meant coding a backtester or paying for one and wiring up data.
So now you just describe the idea in plain English:
*"Buy MNQ when it drops 1% below the previous day's close."*
…and AskFutures runs a real historical backtest over years of minute data in seconds — equity curve, win rate, max drawdown, and a trade-by-trade ledger. You can refine it in chat, sweep hundreds of parameter combinations onto one chart to spot robust regions, and share a strategy as an embeddable widget.
The part I'm proudest of is under the hood: the AI doesn't write code that gets executed. It compiles your description into a structured, typed representation that a deterministic engine runs — so the same strategy always produces the same result, and a weird equity curve is a weird *strategy*, not a bug in generated code.
It covers 74 futures contracts across equity index, FX, rates, metals, energy, ag, crypto, and more. There's a 3-day free trial, and **Product Hunt folks get code: PRODUCT-HUNT for 1 month free**
(today only).
I'd love your feedback — especially: throw a strategy at it that you think it'll misunderstand. Those edge cases are the most useful thing you can give me. I'll be here all day answering questions. 🙏
Finally a backtest tool that doesn't make me write a single line of code. I typed out a simple MNQ idea and got a full equity curve with the drawdown numbers in under 30 seconds, which is way faster than my usual spreadsheet mess.
Finally a backtest tool that doesn't make me open TradingView at 2am. Typed something like "long ES on morning breakout" and got an actual equity curve with the drawdown I would've eaten last month. Kinda wild how fast it runs.
honestly this is really cool, been wanting something like this forever. one thing i'd love is letting you stack multiple conditions in one rule, like "buy MNQ when it drops 1% AND rsi is below 30" so you can actually filter setups the way you'd think about them.
Would love to see walk-forward validation built in so the backtest automatically splits data into in-sample and out-of-sample periods. That way you know if "buy MNQ on a 1% dip" actually held up or just worked on the chunk you tested.
Typed in a rough MNQ pullback idea and got back a full equity curve with drawdown in under a minute, actually impressed by how natural the plain English input feels.
honestly the voice-to-backtest thing is kind of cool, dropped a quick idea in and got an equity curve in seconds. wish the drawdown readout was a bit easier to read on mobile but overall solid for testing stuff before committing.
Typed in "buy MNQ after a 1% drop" just to see what happens and got a full equity curve plus trade ledger in like 10 seconds. Honestly didn't expect the drawdown breakdown to be this readable.
