Hey PH 👋 I built ARCDesk after watching my girlfriend, an indie author, run her ARC (Advance Reader Copy) process through a cobbled together mess, then spend the week before launch scrolling through her book's Goodreads reviews trying to match up which reviewer was which ARC reader, and who hadn't shown up at all. She told me this is just how everyone in the space does it. Right now, the process is stitched together from whatever's on hand. A Google Form collects applications. A spreadsheet is where you copy the approved people to a shortlist of who's a good fit. Then you're hunting down a way to actually get the file to each reader, since Kindle needs one format and Kobo needs another, so a lot of authors end up on BookFunnel just for delivery, where they then copy across their shortlist into their BookFunnel account just to send it out. Deadline arrives, and it's manually scrolling through Goodreads trying to figure out who actually reviewed. Next book, you start from zero again, with no memory of who showed up last time. ARCDesk replaces the whole chain all in one place, form, shortlisting, delivery, reminders, with one connected flow, and adds the one piece that never existed anywhere: automatic Goodreads review verification, so you know who came through without the manual scrolling. Built for indie authors specifically, since that's where ARC teams via Instagram/TikTok are most common. Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's run an ARC team before. What's the most annoying part of the process for you?

One thing I'd love to see is a built-in analytics dashboard showing which ARC team members actually follow through on reviews after they receive the book, so authors can quickly identify their most engaged readers and tailor future campaigns to them.

honestly looks pretty useful for authors juggling review tours, but one thing that would really help is letting readers see a public calendar or sign-up page for available ARC spots. right now it kind of feels like you have to already know the author to get in, and that probably limits how many fresh eyeballs you reach.

Who hunted ARC Desk?

ARC Desk was hunted by Ben James. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
