App Scope
Research proven iOS apps before you build the next one
550+ iOS apps, manually researched over years, Sensor Tower estimates, revenue evidence, and build/maintenance complexity for each. Compare Peak Observed Revenue against Downloads at Peak Revenue to spot strong monetization, not just big install numbers. Not AI-generated ideas, not a guarantee, not a complete App Store map. Just years of research, so you spend less time guessing and more time building the right thing.
Hey everyone, Robby here, maker of App Scope, collecting iOS app downloads and revenue data since 2022.
I've spent the last several years manually researching individual iOS apps, not for a product, just for myself. Every time I was deciding what to build next, I'd browse the App Store, and then look for the app on Sensor Tower to gather estimates, screenshot the evidence, and log what I found: Revenue, Downloads and Monetization with screenshots for proof. Over time that spreadsheet turned into 550+ researched apps.
I kept using it privately to answer one question before committing to a build: how big is the market, are there any big successful apps in the market, how many competitors, is the market consolidated by 1-2 companies that dominate that market or not? Eventually I figured other indie devs and solo founders were asking the same question and re-doing research I'd already done. So I cleaned up the database and I'm putting it out there.
A few things worth knowing going in:
This isn't an AI-generated list of "app ideas." Every entry is manually researched with supporting evidence.
It's not a claim that any of these apps will make you money if you build something similar, it's a starting point for research, not a guarantee.
It's not a complete map of the App Store. Some niches I checked almost monthly, others more periodically, so coverage reflects what I was personally researching, not everything that exists.
"Peak Observed Revenue" means the highest level I personally recorded during my research, not necessarily the app's all-time peak.
There's a free demo of 100 apps, if you want to see the data before deciding whether the full database (550+ apps) is useful to you.

Who hunted App Scope?
App Scope was hunted by Robby. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
