“Five more minutes” kept becoming 40. The strict blockers I tried worked until I got annoyed and removed them, so I built a smaller intervention.
App Break lets you choose distracting Android apps and set a daily limit. When time is up, it gives you a calm choice: stop for today or consciously take five more minutes.
There is no account. Your limits and settings stay on your phone, and the app supports 22 system languages. Android Usage Access measures time in the apps you select; Display over other apps is used only to show the pause screen.
I’m especially curious:
- Is the first-time permission setup clear?
- Does the pause feel helpful rather than nagging?
- Which app owns your “five more minutes”?
