Most journaling apps help you write. ALCHM helps you return. Instead of chasing streaks, productivity, or endless writing, ALCHM quietly brings your own reflections back days later, creating space for insight to deepen over time. Powered by AI that reflects instead of advises. Private by design. Built for the life that happens between moments of insight.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Zadie, the founder of ALCHM. Over the past few years, I've become obsessed with a simple question: What happens after insight? Not just after therapy. After a conversation. A long walk. A difficult decision. A great book. A journal entry. Any moment that quietly changes how we see ourselves. Important insights rarely fade because they lacked value. They fade because life keeps moving, and nothing helps us return to them. That observation became ALCHM. Rather than building another AI that tries to answer every question, we wanted to build one that knows when not to answer. ALCHM is a private reflection platform that combines thoughtful writing with intentionally bounded AI. Instead of giving advice, it reflects what you've written, gently widens the perspective, and asks one thoughtful question that helps you continue thinking. One feature I'm especially excited about is something we call Seed Return. Sometimes your most meaningful thoughts aren't the ones you write today, they're the ones you rediscover later. With Seed Return, an earlier reflection quietly returns at the right moment, inviting you to revisit it with a fresh perspective. It has become one of the most meaningful parts of the experience for many early users. We also made a few decisions that intentionally go against today's software norms: • No streaks. • No shame-based engagement. • No emotional scoring. • No journal entries used to train AI. • No attempts to replace your judgment. We believe technology should earn trust through restraint, not persuasion. I'd genuinely love your thoughts on three questions: 1. Have you ever had an insight you wish you hadn't forgotten? 2. What would make you trust an AI enough to write honestly? 3. If you've tried journaling before, what helped you stick with it, or what made you stop? I'll be here throughout the day answering every comment, collecting feedback, and talking about where we hope reflective technology can go next. Thank you for spending a little time with what we're building. — Zadie

Comment highlights

The resurfacing of old entries felt surprisingly natural, like flipping through a notebook at the right moment without having to search for it.

The resurfacing of old entries after a few days caught me off guard in a good way, like finding a note I forgot I wrote and finally having something new to say to it.

the resurfacing of old entries really caught me off guard, it felt kind of like rereading a letter from a past version of me. honestly wish more apps leaned into the quiet side instead of trying to gamify everything.

Tried it for a few days and the resurfacing of old entries caught me off guard, in a good way. Reading a thought I forgot I had felt like meeting a past version of myself.

Who hunted ALCHM?

ALCHM was hunted by Zadie Walker. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
