Yesterday’s Light
Change the past in a tiny 3D garden puzzle
Change a garden in 1996 and watch the consequences unfold in 2026. Redirect water, grow a bridge from roots, and guide light home across six short puzzles. Built with GPT-6 Astra in Codex. Free to play in your browser, with no sign-up or runtime AI calls.
Hi Product Hunt, I’m Hengfei, the maker of Yesterday’s Light.
What if a small change could travel thirty years?
In this little 3D garden, you change the past and watch the future respond. Close a sluice to reveal a flooded path. Plant beside a broken bridge and let the roots grow across it. Turn a reflector so light can reach a forgotten window.
Six short puzzles explore water, growth, light, storms, and drought. You can compare 1996 and 2026, scrub through time, and undo a choice whenever you want to try another idea.
I built it with GPT-6 Astra in Codex for this challenge. Astra helped develop the game rules, 3D scenes, interactions, and fixes from browser playtesting. The build process used AI; the finished game runs entirely in your browser. There are no runtime model calls, sign-ups, or paid gates.
I wanted something people could explore through small, visible actions. I’d love to hear which change surprised you, and where the connection between an action and its consequence could be clearer.
Thanks for visiting the garden.
