Hi PH 👋
webadb grew out of pure annoyance: nine times out of ten we just needed to run one shell command, push one file, or grab one screenshot from a test phone — and the cost of doing that was installing the full Android SDK, fighting with platform-tools versions, and making sure no other ADB client was holding the port.
So we moved ADB into the browser. webadb uses WebUSB to open a direct channel between the tab and the phone over USB: run shell commands with live output, browse and upload files, install an APK from your machine, or capture a PNG screenshot. There's no server relaying the traffic — the device talks to your browser directly, so nothing about the session leaves your computer.
It's not trying to replace a full IDE or scrcpy — it's the fastest possible path to "shell in and do the one thing" without the toolchain. Free, no account, nothing to install.
We'd love to hear from Android devs and QA folks: what's the one ADB action you reach for most, and is anything missing from the four panels we shipped?
