Hey Product Hunt,
I first launched Wealthfolio here two years ago as a small desktop investment tracker.
The idea was simple. I wanted a good way to track my investments without putting my entire financial history in another SaaS database.
Wealthfolio stored everything locally, required no account, and was deliberately pretty boring.
That part hasn't changed.
What has changed is everything Wealthfolio can do around it.
Today it covers investments and performance, net worth, spending and budgets, financial goals, retirement and FIRE planning, portfolio allocation and rebalancing. It now runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, iPhone and iPad, with a self-hosted web version available too.
The core app is still free, open source and usable without an account.
The biggest tradeoff with the original model was convenience. People liked owning their data, but they didn't necessarily want to keep importing files and updating accounts manually.
So we built Wealthfolio Connect.
Connect is an optional paid service that adds automatic brokerage sync and end-to-end encrypted device sync. The goal was to add automation without turning Wealthfolio itself into a cloud-dependent finance app.
That's really what this relaunch is about. Wealthfolio has grown from a desktop portfolio tracker into a broader personal finance app, while keeping the local-first model that it started with.
