Watchside goes beyond simply bringing a friends list back to Twitch. It adds a live social layer directly into Twitch that shows what your friends are watching, detects when multiple friends are gathering around the same stream, and lets you jump in with them. Instead of relying only on algorithms or follower counts to decide what to watch, Watchside makes your friends part of discovery. If people you know start gravitating toward a stream, you can see it happening and join them.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Watchside because I missed something Twitch used to have: Friends.
I liked being able to open Twitch, see where my friends were hanging out, and sometimes discover a stream simply because a few people I knew were already there. When Twitch removed Friends, that little bit of social discovery disappeared with it.
Watchside started as my attempt to bring that feeling back, but I've been building beyond the old friends list too.
With Watchside, you can see what your friends are watching directly on Twitch, see when multiple friends are gathering around the same stream, and jump in with them.
It's free and available for Chrome and Firefox.
I'm a solo developer, and this is still very early. The biggest thing I need now is people actually using it with their friends so I can learn what works, what doesn't, and where to take it next.
If you use Twitch, I'd especially love to hear whether you remember the old Friends feature and what you'd want from a modern version of it.
