I built Wall I Love after visiting Le mur des je t'aime in Paris — a wall covered in "I love you" in dozens of languages, layered by strangers who'll never meet. I wanted that feeling online: not a feed, not likes, just one shared canvas where a declaration is permanent.
The problem with existing "wall of love" style sites is that they're static — a fixed image or a paginated list. I wanted something you could actually get lost in: pan and zoom across thousands of tiles at real scale, like it's a physical wall.
The process changed a lot along the way. It started as a free-claim demo, but "free" cheapened it — permanence deserves a small cost, so claiming became a real €1 payment (or a coupon). I originally shipped with 7 languages and it felt incomplete the moment real people started placing tiles in languages I hadn't planned for, so that grew to 73, singular and plural.
