VidZap
Turnkey Video Downloader Script (Node.js & Vanilla JS
A premium, full-stack web video downloader application. Features a sleek, responsive dark-mode frontend layout alongside an asynchronous Express.js backend. Built securely using node child processes (execFile) to guarantee complete system protection against shell string injections. Clean environmental variable maps (.env.example) allow effortless tracking and custom integrations for third-party RapidAPI scaling.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm excited to share the architecture of a full-stack project I just finalized: VidZap, a turnkey web video downloader script.
When building this, my goal was to create a reliable and secure utility system. It uses a decoupled structure: a lightweight, single-page Vanilla JS frontend that handles link inputs on a crisp dark UI, connected to an asynchronous Express.js Node backend core.
To eliminate command-injection vulnerabilities common in web extractors, I strictly implemented `execFile` to sandbox incoming URL queries securely. It also comes out of the box with a clean `.env` architecture, allowing buyers to seamlessly drop in RapidAPI credentials as an optional cloud-processing fallback.
I have completely unbranded the source package, cleaned out local folders, and bundled it with step-by-step setup guides to deploy globally on VPS hosts or edge servers.
I'm live today offering a special launch package on Gumroad. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this architecture or answer any questions about the backend logic below! 👇
