UniFile
Privacy first File Converter and Utility Tool for macOS
Risking a data breach for a PNG to PDF? Stop uploading files to random websites. UniFile lives in your Mac menu bar. #drag, drop, done. Converts images, videos, audio, merges PDFs, extracts text, locks with passwords. Removes image backgrounds, supports 30+ formats. Whatever you do, one thing is for sure: DATA NEVER LEAVES YOUR MAC. No accounts. No servers. No waiting. Everything runs locally on your hardware. Ahh and IT IS FREE:)
I built UniFile because I got tired of uploading my files to random converter websites every single day, bypassing paywalls, free tokens, Cookies, Register banners, just for a file conversion. Its ridiculous.
We got used to AI and having everything at our fingertips, yet you still google a pdf to png conversion or PDF merge...
So I built the tool I wished existed: drag a file onto the tiny widget, pick what you need, get the result. That's it. Everything runs on your Mac's hardware.
Ahh and there is not limit: - Drop 200 HEIC photos and get JPGs in 2 seconds - Merge 50 PDFs into one with a single drop - Rip audio from a video in any format - Remove backgrounds with on-device AI - Lock sensitive files with password-protected ZIPs
It started as a weekend project to scratch my own itch, and turned into something I use dozens of times a day.
I'd love your feedback. What file operations do you deal with most? What would you add? Let me know so I can improve it
