I'm a civil engineering student who developed this application in my spare time to solve a deeply frustrating problem I encountered while traveling: How do you quickly check prices from your home country when you see an interesting item abroad? A standard Google search usually forces you onto the Google Shopping platform of the country you are visiting. A VPN? It's paid, slow, and a hassle to configure on the spot.
This project was born from a real experience I had in Brazil. I was in a shopping mall and found a great-looking watch. I used an app to convert the local price, which came out to €350. I was eager to buy it, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off compared to home. I stood there, with the vendors staring and waiting, struggling to find the home price due to geoblocking, while also trying to guess the exact product reference. After 5 minutes of stressful searching, I finally found it on an official website back home for just €150! Thanks to my persistence, I avoided a terrible deal.
When I looked for an app that could automate this, I found absolutely nothing. So, I decided to build it.
I’m not a professional developer, but I worked on this project every single day during 2 months to come up with something usable. I am my own client, I built it to solve my own problems, but I realized I couldn't be the only one who has wasted time in a foreign store wondering if a purchase is actually worth it.
⚠️ A quick note on limits: For now, due to SerpAPI cost constraints, searches are capped at 3 per day for free users. If you want to test the app thoroughly and this limit annoys you, just drop a comment below! I will happily give you a free beta code to bypass it so you don’t have to pay for a subscription.
