Tomadora
Focus timer that turns your breaks into micro-learning
Free desktop Pomodoro timer that turns your 5-minute work breaks into bite-sized lessons. Learn languages, programming, exam prep, philosophy, science and more — instead of doom-scrolling.
Hey Product Hunt! I'm Mo, solo developer behind Tomadora.
The idea came from a simple observation: I use focus timers daily, but every 5-minute break turned into 20 minutes of doom-scrolling. What if those breaks could actually teach me something?
Tomadora sits in your menu bar, runs a strict focus timer, and when break time hits, it serves you a flashcard or quiz from whatever you're learning. The spaced repetition algorithm (SM-2 with 5-point self-rating, like Anki) ensures you actually retain what you learn.
I've been using it myself to learn German, and the compound effect is real — 6 breaks a day = 30 minutes of spaced repetition practice without any extra screen time.
Tech stack: Electron + React + TypeScript, Express backend, Prisma + PostgreSQL, Google Gemini for course generation, SM-2 spaced repetition.
Would love your feedback! What courses would you want to see?
