Thurayya
The launcher that knows what you need, when you need it
Thurayya is the launcher that knows what you need, when you need it. Press one key and your apps, folders, files and sites are already there, learned from your day. Type in plain words, spell it wrong, it still lands. Everything stays on your Mac.
Hi Product Hunt, I’m Abdulmohsen. I make small, native Mac apps under AppsByMo.
I open the same things at the same times every day: one folder on Sunday morning, the same three apps before a meeting, the PDF I downloaded ten minutes ago. Every launcher I tried still waited for me to type, every single time. I wanted one that already knew me.
The name comes from al-Thurayya, the star cluster you may know as the Pleiades. Long before maps, Arab travellers crossing the desert read the seasons by it and found their way. Thurayya does the same small job on your Mac: it shows you the way to what you need next.
What is new here
- It predicts from your own rhythm. Press ⌥⌘Space and a night sky opens with the apps, folders, files, sites and fresh downloads you usually reach for at this hour, on this day, after what you just did. There is no AI model and no server behind it: it learns what you open, when and in what order, on your Mac. The sky on a Sunday morning is not the sky on a Thursday afternoon. ⌘1 to ⌘9 opens a star.
- Plain words. Type “open the invoices folder in iCloud” and it goes straight there. Apps, folders, files and sites share one search.
- Typos forgiven. “harbr cofee” finds Harbor Coffee. Initials and the wrong keyboard layout work too, and the exact name always wins.
- All Apps, your way. ⌘A turns the sky into every app you have. Drop one app on another to make a folder, build your own lists as tabs, and hide what you never use.
- It works with Mo, the small Mac assistant I’m building: Mo can open things through Thurayya. That connection stays off until you switch it on.
Private by design
Everything it learns lives in one small file on your Mac. No account, no analytics, no cloud. You can pause learning or forget everything from Settings. It goes online only to check your licence and to look for its own updates.
Try it
7 days free with everything on, no account and no card. Then $14.99 once for 3 Macs, with free updates. For launch week, code THURAYYALAUNCH takes 30% off ($10.49) through 29 October. Native Swift, macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.
Give it a day or two to learn your rhythm. I’d love to know what you reach for every day, and whether your sky got it right. If it guessed wrong, tell me what it showed instead: that is the feedback that makes it better.
