TheClimatology

Know exactly when & where the sky will put on a show

Most weather apps tell you if it'll rain. TheClimatology tells you when the sky is worth chasing. We run real atmospheric models through physics-based forecasts for five fleeting phenomena — colorful sunsets & sunrises (fire skies), sea of clouds, rainbows, and the Milky Way — down to the exact place and minute. Pick a spot, get a clear go / maybe / no-go with a quality score, and never miss the moment. Built by a photographer, backed by real atmospheric science.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm a photographer, and I kept missing the good skies — driving out for a fire sky that never showed, or hearing the Milky Way was perfect… the night after. The forecast data was always there; I just couldn't read it in time. So I built TheClimatology. It runs real atmospheric models through a physics-based algorithm for each of five fleeting phenomena — colorful sunsets & sunrises, sea of clouds, rainbows, and the Milky Way — and gives you a simple answer for the exact place and minute: go, or don't. What's different: it's not a generic weather app. Every phenomenon has its own model (cloud height, light scattering, aerosols, moon phase…), shown on a map for any location. Would love your feedback — which sky event should we forecast next? And if you catch something good with it, drop the photo below
