I created The Mindful Dev after spending 15 years in software engineering and repeatedly encountering the same problem: most planning systems track tasks, but ignore the mental load behind them.
Software work is rarely a simple checklist. It involves deep focus, context switching, changing requirements, support work, technical decisions, continuous learning, and delivery pressure. A planner can show what was completed while completely missing the cost of completing it.
My background in organizational psychology encouraged me to approach planning differently. Sustainable performance is influenced not only by motivation and discipline, but also by workload, recovery, boundaries, autonomy, and working conditions.
