I built Terminal Quest a browser-based retro terminal mystery game where you explore a corrupted filesystem, solve puzzles, and uncover a story about a digital cat and a broken grid.
What you'll do:
Navigate a virtual filesystem with ls, cd, cat. Real terminal commands
Befriend a digital cat (feed, pet, talk) to earn trust and fragments
Repair 4 corrupted sectors, then choose your ending: restore rewrite (clean reboot) or restore preserve (glitches sealed in amber)
Play minigames (play crash, play leak), decrypt ciphers (ROT, XOR, Base64, Vigenère), craft items, manage processes
Unlock 6 prestige levels with permanent perks (auto-feed cat, free decoder, 2× process bits, storm immunity, 2× global bits)
Built with: React, Vite, Tailwind
Runs entirely in browser, progress saved to localStorage.
