SubEnvoy
Translate subtitles for your local videos with AI
SubEnvoy focuses on a niche but common problem: local videos with subtitles you can’t understand. Unlike typical subtitle tools, it works directly with local files (MKV, MP4, SRT), extracts or generates subtitles, and translates them with AI while preserving timing and context. No video upload is required — your media stays on your device. It also handles large subtitle files efficiently, making it practical for full-length movies and series.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built SubEnvoy to solve a very specific problem I kept running into:
I had videos with subtitles… but not in a language I understand.
This happens a lot with:
- Old or niche content
- Anime and foreign shows
- Random releases with mismatched subtitles
So I built a tool that works like this:
1. Load a local video or subtitle file
2. Extract or generate subtitles (if missing)
3. Translate them with AI (context-aware, not literal)
4. Export and watch anywhere
Key things I focused on:
- Works directly with local files (MKV, MP4, SRT, etc.)
- No video upload — media stays on your device
- Handles large subtitle files (full movies / series)
This is especially useful if you:
- Watch content in multiple languages
- Deal with incomplete or wrong subtitles
- Want a clean, usable SRT output
I’d really like to hear how you currently deal with subtitles in different languages, and what’s still frustrating about it.
Happy to answer any questions 🙌
