Stridemind: Fall Prevention

Balance training for older adults, built into a walk

Stridemind trains balance and fall risk in older adults through dual-task walking — a cognitive task layered onto a real walk, off-screen, based on the clinical protocol researchers use to test fall risk.

Hey Product Hunt — I'm Ibrahim, a biology undergrad at Stony Brook, and I built Stridemind solo (no CS background, learned the stack with AI-assisted development while building this). The idea started from a Blue Ocean Strategy exercise looking for underserved health niches, not a personal story — which is part of why I leaned on the actual research rather than a looser wellness angle. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death in adults 65+, and most fall-prevention advice is either general fitness or standing-still balance exercises. But clinicians already use "dual-task" walking tests (walk while counting backward, say) to screen fall risk, because real falls almost always happen while someone's distracted, not standing still concentrating on their balance. Stridemind turns that clinical protocol into an actual training app: a short walk, paired with an audio-guided cognitive task, no screen required. It's built for adults 55+ and the adult children who often end up finding these apps for a parent. Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's dealt with an aging parent's balance or fall-risk concerns — happy to answer anything about the research, the build, or why I made the calls I made.
