It runs SteamOS and can play supported games on its own. When you want the full PC library, it streams from your gaming PC over the included 6GHz adapter. Even the controllers make sense for both sides: VR when you need it, normal gamepad controls when you don’t.
Valve somehow made a headset that makes me want to open desktop mode first.
There’s a normal Linux PC sitting underneath the VR layer, and I suspect I’d spend almost as much time messing around with that as actually playing VR games.
