SoundLatch

Stop Windows Switching to the Wrong Audio Device

Windows switched your audio device again? SoundLatch lets you put your speakers, headphones, and microphones in priority order, then automatically selects the right device as you connect or disconnect them. No more digging through Windows settings when you unplug your headphones or plug in a new device.

Top comment

I built SoundLatch because I was tired of Windows choosing the wrong audio device whenever I plugged in headphones or reconnected a microphone. It’s a small interruption but super annoying to deal with everyday. The idea is simple: let people put their playback and recording devices in priority order, then have SoundLatch automatically select the highest-priority device that’s available. Boom, problem solved and now you don't have to wonder which speaker will blast DJ Peggy Gou at 3am.
