Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Jun. I built SnagRes because getting a table at Carbone had turned into a genuine part-time job: alarms set for 10am, Resy open on two devices, and still about four seconds too late.
The thing is, these competitive restaurants do have tables that open – people cancel, restaurants release inventory, etc. The problem isn't that availability doesn't exist, it's that the window is roughly 90 seconds wide and nobody is watching at 2pm on a Tuesday.
So SnagRes watches instead. It tracks 140 of the hardest rooms in NYC and San Francisco (Carbone, Torrisi, Tatiana, Cote, 4 Charles, and on the SF side Cotogna, San Ho Won, Quince, Copra) and texts you the second one frees up.
Two things it deliberately does not do:
1. It doesn't book for you. No sniping, no bot holding a table hostage. You get the text, you book it yourself. I'd rather not take inventory out of circulation from people who are also just trying to get dinner.
2. It never asks for your Resy or OpenTable login.
We first launched here in February as SnagNYC. Since then San Francisco went live, text alerts shipped (email turned out to be too slow, a hot table is gone before you check your inbox), and we added exact release times so you know exactly when hot restaurants drop tables.

I'm genuinely curious if this is an issue that has stuck with any of you, and is this worth building outside NYC and SF? LA and Chicago are the two I keep getting asked for!
