smack
A Pro-user dashboard that lives in your Mac's notch
Smack lives in the notch and menu bar. Hover to see CPU, memory, network, disk and every process, then act on it: disable startup items, inspect processes and connections, investigate IPs, check disk space. Native, no dependencies, no data leaves your Mac. Free and open source. Brew install: brew install --cask alvagante/tap/smack
Hi Product Hunters! I built Smack because the stuff I want to know about my Mac is scattered in different places and the notch is dead space I look at all day. So I put a monitor there and added all the stuff that I want to know on what is happening on my computer.
It started as a CPU/Memory/Disk/Network graph and grew into something more: manage startup items, show those perky hidden top bar icons, investigate a running process, check network connections, see which folder ate your disk and more.
Honest notes: it's Apple Silicon, macOS 15+. Releases aren't notarized yet because I don't have a Developer ID, so the Homebrew cask removes the quarantine flag (or see the README for the manual steps).
Tool is 100% free, open source, all data is local, no ads, no telemetry, no freemium, no subscriptions.
It has been vibe coded (hopefully with sanity) and I kinda feel embarrassed to ask for money for something I had fun doing, without any Swift knowledge, in a relatively short time. If you think it's worth it, you can use the GitHub Sponsor option, but bug reports and sharing is really what makes the difference for me.
I'd love to hear which pages you'd use most and what's missing. Thanks for looking!

Who hunted smack?
smack was hunted by Alessandro Franceschi. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
